INTERACTIONS IN ECOSYSTEMS

INTERACTIONS IN ECOSYSTEMS

In all ecosystems, there are many kinds of interactions among living organisms. The interactions between the members of the same species are called interaspecfic interaction while the interactions between the members of different species are called interaspecfic interactions.

Competition
In ecosystems, the natural resources e.g. nutrients, apace etc. are usually in short supply. So there is a competition may be intraspecific or interaspecfic.
Intraspecific competition is always strong and more server than the interaspecfic competition. Competition helps in maintaining a balance between the available resources and the number of individuals of a species.

Predation

It is an interaction between two animals of different species or between a plant and an animal. In predation, one organism attack, kills and feeds on other organism.
